📅 Last updated: June 5, 20261. Information We Collect
Meal Plan is designed for household meal planning and recipe management. We are committed to collecting as little personal data as possible. Here is what the app may store or process:

💡 Important: We do not require you to create an account or provide personal identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the core features of the app.
2. How We Use Information
Any information collected or stored is used exclusively to provide and improve the core features of Meal Plan:
- Meal Planning: Organize recipes, plan weekly meals, and generate shopping lists

- Improvement: Understand app performance and fix issues through anonymous analytics
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
Meal Plan integrates with select third-party services to deliver its functionality. Each service operates under its own privacy policy:
Displays banner and app-open advertisements. Google may use device identifiers and browsing data. Google Privacy Policy
Hosts static assets such as default recipe images and configuration files served via Amazon CloudFront.
Provides remote configuration (e.g., ad switches, feature flags). Requests include only app version and platform info.
Google Play Services and Apple App Store services for licensing, updates, and platform-level analytics.
🔒 We carefully evaluate each third-party partner and only integrate services that are essential to the app's functionality. We do not share any personally identifiable information with these partners.
4. Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement multiple layers of protection:
Local Storage
The majority of your data — including recipes, meal plans, family profiles, shopping lists, and preferences — is stored locally on your device using Hive, a fast and secure local database. This means:
- Your data remains on your device and is not uploaded to our servers
- You have full control over your data — deleting the app removes all local data
- No internet connection is required to access your saved content
Network Transmission
When data is transmitted (e.g., fetching remote configuration or ad content), it is sent over secure HTTPS connections with industry-standard encryption.
Photo Storage
Recipe photos you add are stored in the app's local directory on your device. The app only accesses your photo library when you explicitly choose to add a photo to a recipe.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You have full control over your data and how the app uses it:
- Access Your Data: All data is stored locally and accessible directly within the app
- Delete Your Data: You can delete individual items (recipes, family members, meal plans) within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all data
- Opt Out of Ads: You can reset your advertising ID in your device settings. On Android, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads. On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising
- Manage Permissions: You can revoke camera and photo library permissions at any time in your device settings
- Data Portability: Your locally stored data can be exported by accessing the app's data directory on your device
6. Children's Privacy
Meal Plan is designed for use by adults managing household meal planning. The app is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) without parental supervision and consent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the address below, and we will take steps to delete the information.
7. International Users
Meal Plan is available globally through app stores. Since most data is stored locally on your device, cross-border data transfer is minimal. Any data transmitted (e.g., for ads or configuration) is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including:
- GDPR (EU/EEA): You have the right to access, rectify, and erase your data, as well as restrict or object to processing
- CCPA (California): You have the right to know what data is collected and to request deletion
- Other Jurisdictions: We strive to comply with applicable local privacy regulations
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes:
- The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date
- Significant changes may be communicated through an in-app notification
- Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
